How do I prepare KetoCal powder?
The quantity of KetoCal used should be determined by a clinician or dietitian only. Measure the required amount of warm water into a container that seals with a screw top lid. To completely dissolve the powder, the water must be at a temperature of 45-50°C. Add the prescribed amount of KetoCal to the water. Cover and shake until the powder has dissolved. Once prepared, the formula should be stored in a refrigerator and used within 24 hours.
How do I store KetoCal powder?
Store unopened product in a cool, dry place and away from sunlight. Once the can has been opened, reseal and store in a cool, dry place (not in a refrigerator) and use within one month.
How long can I keep prepared KetoCal in the fridge for?
Once powdered formula is prepared, use immediately or refrigerate promptly at 4°C or less and use within 24 hours.
Does KetoCal taste better chilled?
Yes, KetoCal is best served chilled.
Can I add flavourings to KetoCal?
KetoCal can be flavoured with sugar free syrups, such as a Da Vinci® sugar free syrup or Torani® sugar free syrup. Both brands can be ordered online. This is a great idea to change the taste of KetoCal from time to time.
Can I boil or microwave KetoCal?
It is not advised to boil or microwave KetoCal as high temperatures can damage some of the vitamins and minerals in the product.
Are there any medical contraindications to KetoCal?
KetoCal is not indicated to individuals with milk, soy or corn allergies.
Are there any side effects from taking KetoCal?
There are no reported side effects from using KetoCal. However, close monitoring for hypoglycaemia, renal stones, adequate growth and hyperlipidaemia is recommended while following a ketogenic diet.
